Payment terms
Residential pressure washing is usually paid when the job is done, with the invoice sent from the driveway so the client can pay while you pack up. For large jobs such as a full exterior plus deck staining or a commercial lot, some companies take a deposit to hold the date and cover sealer or stain. Commercial clients and property managers often need Net 30 with a PO number. For annual or twice-a-year cleaning plans, invoice each visit when it happens rather than in advance, unless the client has agreed to pay up front.

- Quoting a flat price without measuring, then eating the cost when the driveway is twice the size
- Not charging for heavy stain treatment or extra chemical on badly stained surfaces
- Skipping the disclaimer for stains that may not come out

How do I invoice for pressure washing?
List each surface with its size and price, add any treatments or sealing, apply your minimum charge if needed, and send the invoice right after the job so the client can inspect and pay.
Do I charge sales tax on pressure washing?
It depends on your state. Some states tax cleaning or building maintenance services, and sealers or stains sold as part of the job may also be taxable. Check your state rules before adding tax.
Should I charge per square foot or a flat rate?
Many companies price flatwork by the square foot and siding or roofs by flat rate based on house size. Measuring first protects you on large or unusual properties.
Can I charge extra for chemicals?
Yes, if the job needs more cleaning solution or special stain treatments than a standard wash. Explain the add-on before you start and list it as a separate line.
