Frequently asked questions

How is a translation quote calculated?

Most translators charge per source word: word count × your per-word rate. This tool counts the words in an uploaded .docx or text file (or pasted text), applies your rate, and adds optional rush and certified surcharges plus a minimum project fee.

What per-word rate should I charge?

It varies widely by language pair, specialization and region — commonly $0.08–$0.20 per word for general work, higher for legal, medical or certified translation. Enter your own rate; the tool does the math.

Does the file leave my computer?

No — the word count and PDF are generated entirely in your browser. Confidential documents never get uploaded.

What about certified or rush jobs?

Toggle "Rush delivery" for a 30% surcharge and "Certified" for a flat fee — both appear as separate line items on the quote so the client sees exactly what they are paying for.
