Frequently asked questions

What does Net 30 mean?

Payment is due 30 calendar days (not business days) after the invoice date. Net 7, 15, 45, 60 and 90 work the same way. "Due on receipt" means the client should pay immediately — in practice, within a day or two.

Which payment terms should freelancers use?

Shorter than you think. Net 30 is the corporate default, but freelancers and small agencies increasingly use Net 14 or even Net 7 — and larger projects often use deposits plus milestone payments instead of one big invoice at the end.

Do weekends move the due date?

The due date lands on the calendar day regardless. If it falls on a weekend, most businesses treat the next business day as acceptable — state it explicitly in your terms if it matters to you.
