Overtime paid at 1.5× your regular rate. At $20/hour, overtime is $30/hour. In the US, non-exempt employees generally earn it after 40 hours in a workweek under the FLSA; some places and contracts also use 2× ("double time") for holidays or long days.
Overtime pay = hourly rate × multiplier × overtime hours. Your total pay = (regular hours × rate) + overtime pay. This calculator shows each piece separately so a payslip is easy to check.
Not automatically — overtime laws cover employees. Freelancers can build the same idea into contracts: a rush or after-hours rate at 1.5–2× the normal rate. Put it in writing on the estimate.
