Questions about document signing
Do signers need an account?
No. Each signer gets their own link by email and signs in the browser. You can also ask for a 6-digit code sent to their email before they can open the document.
What goes in the audit trail?
The signed PDF ends with an audit trail page: the document ID, the sender, when it was completed, SHA-256 fingerprints of the original and signed file, and for each signer their role, when they viewed and signed, their IP address and device.
Can I sign a quote or an invoice?
Yes. Download it as a PDF from BillingOtter, upload it in document signing and send it. Any PDF up to 25 MB works, such as a contract or a lease.
