How pest control operators and exterminators usually bill
- Higher initial service fee, then a lower recurring rate per visit
- Quarterly or monthly service plans billed per visit or as an annual agreement
- Flat price per job for specialty treatments like bed bugs, wildlife or fumigation
- Termite treatment priced by linear foot of the foundation, with a yearly renewal fee for the warranty
- Per unit charges for traps, bait stations and exclusion materials
Payment terms
Recurring pest control is usually billed after each visit, due on receipt, with many companies charging a card on file automatically. Some sell annual plans paid up front or in monthly installments. Larger jobs such as termite treatments, fumigation or rodent exclusion often require a deposit or full payment before the work is scheduled, since products and tenting have real costs. Termite warranties typically renew with a yearly fee, so send that invoice before the renewal date and state what happens to coverage if it is not paid.

Common mistakes on pest control invoices
- Leaving products and target pests off the invoice, which some states require in service records
- Not explaining the initial fee, so clients think the recurring price went up
- Letting termite warranty renewals lapse without sending a renewal invoice
- Doing free re-treatments without logging them, which hides the real cost of each account
Pest Control invoice questions
What should a pest control invoice include?
Business name and license number, client and service address, the date, target pests, areas treated, products applied, the price for each service, the next visit date, warranty terms and the amount due.
Is pest control taxable?
Some states tax pest control services and others do not. Some tax only certain parts, like products sold. Check with your state revenue department before adding sales tax.
Why is the first pest control visit more expensive?
The initial service usually covers a full inspection plus treatment inside and out to knock down an active problem. Recurring visits maintain a barrier and take less time and product.
How should I bill a termite warranty renewal?
Send a separate renewal invoice ahead of the renewal date with the property address, coverage period and what the renewal includes, such as an annual inspection.
